Australia’s Coach Manager - Matthew Betsey inaugurates Cricket India Academy Branch at Mangalore

In their 3rd successive development year, Cricket India Academy pleased to extend their boundaries of cricket development programs across India with the launch of new centre at Mangalore on Sunday, September 16, 2012.

Under the glimpse of Former India Test Cricketer Brijesh Patel, Coach Manager of Cricket Australia Matthew Betsey and CEO of SEDIL Martin Gleeson – St. Aloysius Centenary Ground, Mangalore officially introduced as new CIA franchisee.

In partnership with Mangala Sports Pvt Ltd – a Mangalore based Sports and Event Management Company; CEO of Sports Education Development India Ltd (SEDIL) – Martin Gleeson proudly inaugurated Mangalore Branch.

On this auspicious occasion Cricket Australia’s Coach Manager – Matthew Betsey announced launch of Cricket Education Program (CEP) – a 6 level sequential cricket development program especially designed for 9 to 14 year old boys and girls in affiliation with Cricket Australia. Cricket India Academy has exclusive rights to promote CEP Programs across its centres in India.

At the launch of Mangalore Branch, chief guest and former Indian Test Cricketer Brijesh Patel expressed happiness towards cricket development pledge in association with CIA. He quoted “CEP will be a great way to develop next generation of cricketers in Mangalore. It is a great initiative by Cricket India Academy.”

On his 10-days tour to India which later progress with launch of Siliguri Branch and a 6-days training session at Jaipur, Matthew Betsey rejoiced with ongoing progress in Indian cricket. “There is a lot of cricket talent and enthusiasm in India. Cricket Australia always aspires to bring best standards and practices into junior cricket coaching. We are pleased to offer innovative coaching philosophy to Mangalore children”, as former New South Wales pacer Betsey cited.

Martin Gleeson, too, warmly welcomes Mangalore to its prowess cricket development program – “On behalf of Cricket India Academy, I welcome Mangala Sports to our family. We are very much looking forward to work together to produce tomorrow’s champions in Mangalore.”

So as Shashidhar Kodical – Managing Director of Mangala Sports Pvt Ltd emphasized Gleeson’s gesture – “We see a lot of young cricketers in Mangalore who are very talented and ready to compete but lacked with advanced training and coaching. So, to promote these young generation, we are tied up with CIA for more structured cricket education and training.”

It is understood that Cricket India Academy is a cricket division of SEDIL – a joint venture between Podar Enterprise and Kohinoor Group – which is firmed to manage and operate all cricket activities residing in SEDIL.
