CIA: It’s time for Siliguri

After the successful launch of Mangalore Branch on Sunday, both Matthew Betsey and Martin Gleeson leave for Siliguri. September 17, 2012, Monday – around 2.55 PM both landed in Siliguri where Mr Ananta Dev – Head of Siliguri Academy warmly greets Australian duo by presenting bouquets.

Further scheduling has been divided in three sessions including an interaction with management students and college cricketers followed by press meet and summed up with official team dinner.

The first session of Siliguri – day 1 starts with IIAS School of Management where students keenly waiting to welcome Matthew and Martin. Coach Manager Matthew talked about Cricket Australia and its affiliated programs across CIA centres; whereas, CEO Martin explained role of SEDIL and CIA on running CEP programs.

Later they headed to SIT Institute to interact with college cricket team players and thus session-2 ends with much anticipated questions.

At 5:30 PM in the evening, it’s time to announce arrival of CIA methodologies among local press and national media journalists. Here, Siliguri Academy head – Ananta Dev joined Martin and Matthew to answer all media queries. After an hour of question-answer session, the long press conference ended with high tea.

Further the carnival moved to Siliguri Academy for office inauguration. After ribbon ceremony, Mr Ananta’s family presented local Bengali sweet dishes to all guests. A warm gesture of pleasing Bengali culture.

Tiring Session-3 ends with formal interaction and photograph session with local communities. Some smiley faces were seen out there among flashes and sounds of clicks.

Day ends with delicious finger-licking recipes and cricket gossips – all served graciously on an official team dinner.  Tomorrow morning will be a new chapter when CEP would introduce a kind of experience in Siliguri Cricket.
