Who said IPL is an Indian tournament and it is used as breeding ground to identify the budding Indian talent? It is also seen like the same by foreign players as well. IPL is being looked upon by even foreign players and the new addition to this list is the English batsman Owais Shah.
The right handed batsman has represented England in six Tests, 71 ODIs and 17 T20Is, but could not cement his place with the English squad due to some inconsistent performances for the home side. He opines, “The performance in IPL is watched world over and I am sure back home too people must be looking at my performance.” Thus he said that he is looking forward to this tournament for his come back to the national team.
Owasi Shah had earlier played for Delhi daredevils and Kochi Tuskers. Owais Shah was bought by Rajastan Royals due to withdrawal of Kochi Tuskers after the fourth season. However, The Middle order batsman feels greater opportunity is being offered by Rajastan royals at the position he wants to bat. He said, “I am thankful that Rajasthan Royals gave me opportunity to bat at the position I like. I had played for Delhi Daredevils, Kochi Tuskers and KKR earlier in IPL but the opportunities were just not there”. It seems the batsmen is making the most of the availed opportunity as he had made 312 runs at a good average of 34 which includes 3 half centuries. Let’s hope his success brings in more English players to IPL.
