Kings XI Punjab hopes of making into top four teams were vanished as they lost their league last match to Deccan Chargers on Saturday.

If Chennai Super Kings loses, the winner of the Kolkatta Kinght Rider versus Mumbai Indians match will be tied with Chennai Super Kings on points and the second and third spots will then be decided on net run rates. In that case, CSK will hope that they loses by a narrow margin and Mumbai Indians wins the second game, as Sachin’s boys have the lowest net run rate of the four teams at the moment.
The format for this season gives the first two teams two shots at getting into the final. A unique eliminator concept means that the top two teams first play each other, with the winner making the final, and the loser then playing the winner of the other play-off to decide the second finalist. So getting into first and second place is very crucial for the survival of the teams.
