Deccan Chargers beat Royal Challengers Bangalore - IPL 2011

History has a funny way of repeating itself and Sangakkara knows this too well at this moment. History was repeated when Adam Gilchrist another left handed wicketkeeper was handed over the reins of Deccan Chargers and as far as results at their home ground are concerned history has been repeating itself since the first year of IPL as all the ten games have been a losing cause for them. They finished at the bottom of the table, and that’s exactly where chargers find themselves at this moment and Sangakkara and co. needs to get their act together if they want to avoid the fate of wooden spoon. Although it’s still early days and two losses doesn’t really count much in such a long competition but like winning, loosing is also a habit and chargers needs to start charging now.

With the kind of personnel Sangakkara has it does seem bit light as far as match winners are concerned but things can change pretty quickly in twenty-20 and anyone with lot of self belief can change a game on its head as was shown by Valthaty last evening. And it’s the self belief which would do a world of good for someone like Ishant Sharma who is hoping to make a comeback in Indian team through IPL. There is no dearth of talent in the lanky pacer and if he can get some early wickets it would immensely help his and his team’s cause. There is no such issue with the man at other end Mr. Steyn and he would be his normal self: Menacing. With Mishra, Ojha and more than handy offspin of Duminy to follow bowling does look pretty settled for Chargers. But,its their batting which has been a letdown in the first two games. If Sangakkara can lead from the front and play his natural aggressive game it would help someone like Bharat Chipli at the other end and who Knows he might do a Valthaty. Dhawan and Duminy are more than capable batsman and if chargers doesn’t too many wickets it would be an ideal platform for someone like Dan christian and DB Ravi Teja to just come and tonk the ball towards the latter part of the innings.

RCB on the other hand looks a far superior side with world class players like AB, Dilshan, Kohli, Vettori,Nannes and Zaheer khan in their ranks. But it can be a different ball game altogether on the field as was shown by KXIP yesterday. All said and done only worry for Vettori so far is the form shown by Mithun. He has looked totally out of sorts in the two matches so far and it’s for the skipper to decide if he wants to give him another chance or perhaps replace him with somebody else . As far as history goes both teams has nothing much to choose from their head to head as they are even after 8 games played so far so whoever comes on top can have bragging rights atleast till the next game.
