Legendary Desmond Haynes to visit Cricket Michigan’s arena
Legendary Opening Bastman Desmond Haynes.

Known as one of the Gods who opened for the team of Gods, Desmond Leo Haynes, the former West Indian cricketer and Coach is scheduled to visit Michigan in month of Novemeber. Desmond Haynes, considered one of the greatest opening batsman in the history of the game, has played in 116 Test matches and 238 one-day internationals, scoring more than 16,000 runs in both formats combined. A Wisden Cricketer of the year in 1991, his batting was known to possess solid muscularity that was capable of many a destructive innings. Along with Gordon Greenidge, his opening partner, he shares the honors of being the highest overall partnership runs by openers in tests and the 3rd highest in ODI’s. Greenidge and Haynes were vital factors in West Indies’ dominance over world cricket in 1970s & 80s. Desmond Haynes also holds a distinct record of being one of the two cricketers in ODI history to score a century in his first and last matches played. His impressive achievements in the Test arena include remaining in the crease throughout an innings on three occasions -an indication of his inestimable value to the West Indian side. After his retirement from the game in 1997 Haynes has served as Chairman of Selectors of the Barbados Cricket Association, Secretary of the West Indies Players Association and past Director / current Disciplinary Tribunal Committee Member of the West Indies Cricket Board.
