In the final one dayer India won the toss and decided to bat first and they made 294 for 7 (Gambhir 88, Tiwary 65, Dhoni 58, Malinga 3-64). Manoj Tiwary and Gautam Gambhir made half-centuries for India to set a good total. In reply Sri Lanka scored 274 allout (Thirimanne 77, Mendis 72, Irfan 5-61) in 45.4 overs. Irfan pathan who took five wickets for 61 runs was declared man of the match and Virat Kohli was declared player of the match.
