Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 44 runs in the 4th ODI played at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo here on Saturday. Sri Lanka lead the 5-match series by 2-1 after this. At Premadasa Stadium Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene won the toss and decided to bat first and set the target of 244 runs for Pakistan (Sangakkara 97, Jayawardene 40, Hafeez 2-37, Tanvir 2-43). Wicketkeeper batsman Kumara Sangakkara made 97 with 7 fours and 3 sixes. In reply Pakistan innings finished at 199 in 45 overs (Azhar Ali 81*, Misbah 57, Perera 4-42). Sri Lankan young fast bowler Parera once again shines with ball to thrash Pakistan innings in a quick session. Thisara Perera’s hat-trick was the seventh by a Sri Lankan bowler. He dismissed Younus Khan, Afridi and Sarfraz in his three successive delivery. At one stage Pakistan’s score was 166/2 and they lost their last six wickets for ten runs.
Perera (Sri Lanka) was declared man of the match for his outstanding performance.
