Well – England remain undefeated even after the 4th ODI today. India have played strongly in the ODIs after their dismal test performance but even today they couldnt effect a win against England. Setting a target of 280 with some stellar batting from Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni, it took an exceptional performance by Munaf to get two wickets in the last two balls before the rains halted the match finally to pull back India in the game. Else we would probably have lost on the D/L method.
Disappointing that the rain came because england needed 11 more runs in 7 balls with only two wickets left. We probably would have won but again, if Munaf had not taken two wickets (one run out) we would probably have lost
The last (5th ODI) is moot now – england have the series and losing one game will hardly be even a consolation for the Indian team. A disastrous tour continues to remain so for the Indian team and fans
Here are some comments on Cricinfo
Abedi: “No body is giving credit to Munaf for his excellent last 5 balls that convert a Loss for India to a Tie at least.”
Prateek: “Oh Jadeja! What was that inexcusable, needless throw at the striker’s end for?!”
Julia: “Whoa this has been more dramatic than a Bollywood movie.”
What did the experts say ?
1. Sunil Gavaskar : “I think i am disappointed – India should have won this. but they got lucky to tie after the way Bopara and Swann batted”
Later on he added, that “people shouldnt pick up on Harbhajan Singh and start comparing Ashwin to him. Ashwin is a match winning bowler and both should be left alone”
Saurav Ganguly: “I think India was lucky to pull off a tie because of Munaf’s last two balls.”
