Hashim Mahomed Amla (born on March 31, 1983 in Durban, Natal) is a South African cricketer. He made his test debut in 2004 at Kolkata. He usually bats at number 3 position for South Africa in Test matches. He scored his first century which was against India in the year 2006 with 149 runs. His highest test score is 253 not out against India in February 2010 at Nagpur. As of September 2011, he has scored 3,897 test runs with 12 centuries against five countries namely India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, England, New Zealand, and 19 fifties. He scored 200 on one occasion.
